Discouragement as the greatest source of strength
‘‘Difficulties are meant to rouse, not to discourage. The human spirit is to grow strong by conflict’’

Discouragement is a strength that underlies the problems we face. As human beings, our life is characterised by challenges whether there are big, small, daily or seasonal. Challenges are part and parcel of humankind living and this denotes that a human being cannot be separated from challenges. However, these challenges cannot define a person but how they react to them is what makes them who they are.
A challenge or a problem can be something that a person does not have control over yet unknowingly have authority over how they can turn that unfavourable circumstance immensely to influence their lives. Being surrounded by problems that you cannot solve can be discouraging and it may have an effect on your well- being. The question is how can one turn their discouragement situations into the strength they need to overcome their problems?
Discouragement is like two sides of the coin. It carries the same impact but different results. It can crush or strengthens you, depending on the side you choose! The great part is, you have the power to determine how you want any discouraging situation to shape or reshape the course of your life. Failure to make use of this power will not stop reshaping the course of your life but you may not be pleased with the results.
It is easy to turn any discouraging situation into a pillar of strength in overcoming life problems. The fundamental aspect is to decide, make a clear decision on how you what the situation to have an influence over your life.
Secondly, it is possible when are grounded and focus on your vision or aspirations such that your perspective on any discouraging situation you may be facing is characterised by hope. You quickly perceive challenges as an opportunity for growth.
Thirdly, be aware of your environment, who are the people in your circle and what influence do they carry towards you? There is a famous statement that people often quote that says, it is important to surround yourself with positive-minded people, people that encourage you to become better. I agree with the above statement, however, I believe it also good to be around naysayers. I’m more of the opinion that if you want to grow fast or increase your momentum in reaching your goals, discovering what you are capable of doing, set yourself amid naysayers. Out of every discouragement is an honest encouragement. When they tell you it is impossible, this should become your number one reason to pursue it and achieve it. When they tell you, you cannot do it, this should be a push to tap into the reservoirs of potential within you.
Consistently build a mindset that sees discouragement from within or outside as a strength to break obstacles around you!
